Greatly influenced by Pop Art, Surrealism, and the Dada movement, and fascinated by science and technology, the German artist Petrus Wandrey is renowned for proclaiming the Digital movement, and the work that integrates vertical and horizontal pixel sequences, along with the usage of computer junk or individually manufactured hardware as essential elements in the creative process.
This techno-sculptor and designer back in 1981 created a pretty bombastic looking stereo system called 'Venus's Hifi' for the 1981 Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin aka 'Berlin Radio Show', one of the oldest industrial exhibitions in Germany. Now, that particular stereo system including 2 large Quad ESI-63 speakers, produced by Metallgestaltung Michael Schmidt, Hamburg, is being offered on sale at the Scandinavian auctioneer site Lauritz.
Expected to fetch as much as $25,975 at the auction closing on Dec. 10th, the Venus's Hifi boasts a gilded bronze sculpture, while other of its parts are polished and painted brass, and speaker's housings comes crafted in wood and metal, polished and painted.
